I’m so enjoying gathering up ideas and inspiration for cottage style design these days. Its the best thing ever. You might have seen my last posts this week where I shared my inspiration, favorite elements and color palettes in cottage style. It has all the elements that are warm and cozy and could make home a home. Casual + fun. Imagine someone sitting in a pretty room where there is lots of natural light and ventilation, cool colors, warm-casual textures, informal but functional place with quietness of nature outside and calmness and peace of mind inside. And that someone is reading a great classic fiction and oh yes, there is a cat curled up on a sofa as well (purrr…). Hello! You just met me! Is that coffee by my side? That’s right. Perfect, isn’t it?
Well, that’s just a sweet dream because I don’t exactly live in a cottage but I do hope to have one someday or at least try to design a home more like a lovely country home. And when that happens, I’d love to come back to look at the posts through this week (!) for they’ll really help in getting inspired, brainstorming ideas and making them happen, and seeing them in real world because it works in many ways that could make me happy.
Its an informal approach. And comfortable too. It doesn’t have to be very formal and perfect anyway. It’s your home, your style; just have to be clean and organized because it will make you insane otherwise. The furniture is a blend of both new and vintage to add character and arranged in a way you’re more pleased with. So, you don’t need to go out of the way to fill in with expensive things.
Your eyes love those colors. Since they have been inspired from the nature and nature has the perfect shades and combinations to its credit. Yes, the most lovely ones, and so bringing home accents from the outside are most calm on your eyes and a blessing to look at all the time. The look doesn’t really give you a color-break-shock when you enter; its like a sweet treat instead.
Every home loves natural light. Plenty! And a cottage welcomes sunlight with pure love. Everything becomes so happy and bright in day light and the ventilation freshens up. Its so healthy and happy.
Its easy to live in. A home designed in a cottage style is such a pleasure to be in. Formal homes have their own charm and there is plenty to admire in them, but if one loves a quiet space away from the fast-paced life to slow down and come closer to nature, then cottage living is the answer. It could be a perfect place to unwind and become yourself.
It’s just lovely; cottage style – its Friday tomorrow, so I think I would be working out a few tips to make that style yours – in a way that suits you.
