I’ve been thinking a lot about the cottage style in design because it has all those wonderful things that I’m truly fond of when it comes to a home. Comfort? Check. Simplicity? Check. Pretty pastels and soft colors. Check. Open shelving for easy accessibility? Check. Lots of natural light and nature inspired accents? Check check. Pretty floral fabrics that you give you kind of an English country vibe? Sure do. But all these things could be salient features in other styles too, then why cottage style? Good question. I was wondering that too. But then I thought, when on one side I love simplicity and sophistication in a space, nature has a lot of influence on me as well. Having been lived in quiet and peaceful neighborhoods all my life and played in lush green lawns and now living in an open floor space; cottage style is a little closer to what my true style is; the one closer to my heart.
So, this week I’ll be focusing on cottage style in general; trying to understand how it works and how it be can me made more living-friendly and functional. But for now, I’m totally loving these inspiring images below that make me dream of living in a cottage.
Tomorrow, I’ll be back with the main elements that cottage style focuses on. See you then.
